We enjoyed our Christmas a day early this year- since we were traveling on the actual day itself, and because it fell on a Sunday. Sunday Mornings are always hectic getting out the door for worship, so we figured it would be easier, more fun, and more enjoyable to have Christmas on Saturday.
We had a delicious breakfast of Sausage Breakfast Casserole and lower-sugar cinnamon rolls while sitting in the living room, during a break from gift-opening.
It was a pleasure to see our daughter hand out the gifts, always eagerly asking, "Can I open mine now?"
She really enjoyed each gift, and it was actually difficult to get her to move to the next one! I appreciated this, because I know how difficult it is to keep that attitude through the years- to appreciate what you have right now, versus what you are expecting! Hmmmm...I think I just learned something from my toddler!
Christmas Dinner included a shrimp cocktail for the appetizer, braised beef roast (with red wine sauce), cheesy chive baked mashed potatoes, asparagus with hollandaise, Sister Shubie's rolls (of course!), and pecan pie for dessert!
On Christmas day we headed to Grammy and Poppy's house for the family Christmas. This included the second bi-annual No-Talent Talent Show, which has a rousing success again this year. The children exchange gifts, which is also very fun. Our daughter was hilarious to watch, and she thoroughly enjoyed all the time with her cousins. What a great thing to have cousins with whom to spend the holidays! I am so thankful I had the same experience growing up!
