My friend Lauren recommended this idea to me, which she got from Playing house. Anyway, given my daughter's obsession with makeup, I thought it would be a nice surprise present sometime!
(BTW, my husband, who is completely against makeup of any kind coming within 12 inches of our daughter's face, actually got angry with me when he first saw these! He said, "I can't believe you! Why would you buy that?"
So of course I tried to "wipe" some on his face, which made him even more upset, until he touched it and realized the truth! Haha!! It's that realistic-looking!)
Step 1: Find your cases
Target.com had an amazing deal the other day: an ELF eyeshadow kit for $2.97 shipped! I had been watching for something exactly like this, and was thrilled to find this deal. I am waiting to finish my current blush to complete one in that format.
Step 2: Remove the makeup
If you have a used case, then this is not an issue. However, I bought the new one, so I had to remove the eyeshadow. I didn't like the idea of spraying powder everywhere, so I removed them by prying out the metal "cups" the contain the shadow. It was still pretty messy, as they tend to shatter, so be prepared. I just so happened to have the perfectly-sized screwdriver for this purpose.
Step 3: Cut the squares
I purchased sheets of sparkly foam from Target for this purpose, as you know a little glitter always makes the eyes pop! Cutting the squares was easy because of a tip from Playing House: press the foam into the tray to get the imprint of the squares, then they are easy to cut to fit!
Step 4: Press them in
Pretty self-explanatory. And, there you have it! Pretend eyeshadow!!!!!
This looks AMAZING!!
