Today I am attempting to do something I am very doubtful that I can accomplish:
One large grocery trip per month!
I know that I will have to go for little things here and there (milk, bread, eggs, bacon) but I tried to purchase everything we would need to feed our family of four for a MONTH.
I went to Aldi today with my two girls and spent a grand total of $260. That meant that my cart was (quite literally) overflowing, and even the bottom shelf had two hams and a gallon of milk! I can't believe the amount of healthy (even organic!) food you can purchase at Aldi for a fraction of the cost anywhere else.
So here is the plan:
I have written out our meals for the month of October, and I hope to stick to it (pretty much). I have slated in two to three meals a week eaten out, but the rest are home-cooked. I am really excited to see how far I can stretch these groceries!
(Oh, and by the way, that includes having a large chili potluck, two weekends with house guests, two meals to take to sick friends, and at least one party.)
If it does work, and I can keep our total groceries (including the inevitable refills listed above) under $300 I will be so thrilled!
Keep your fingers crossed!!
