Our daughter has been going through a spell in which she claims she cannot stay in her bed all night. The explanations are always fantastic and colorful:
"The witches come in my room and make me get out of bed."
"There are monsters in my room. They say, 'Get out of that bed! That is OUR bed!'"
"There are snakes in my bed. I don't like snakes."
In order to achieve some rest, we created a bed (made of extra blankets and pillows) on the floor beside ours, so she has a place to come in the wee hours. When introduced, she immediately called it her "fairy bed." It is a favorite resting place.
This morning, after she awakened from her fairy bed, she went to her bathroom and began to fill her kitchen containers with water. There were cups, bowls, teapots, glasses, measuring cups, and pots filled with water.
"Come have a tea party with me, Mommy!"
And so we did, in our pajamas, on the bathroom floor. What a spread she prepared!
Salad, tomatoes, fish, cupcakes, and more tea that one could possibly drink. She even went out of her way to get real napkins from the real kitchen, not wanting to leave anything out.
It was a precious moment to spend with this little hostess, her sweet smile and sharing gestures such a gift first thing in the morning.
I'm pretty sure JuJu would have been my best friend when I was that age! EVERYTHING has to be REAL!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet darling!
I hope you showed her that horsey print on my blog yesterday! I thought of her when I found it ;)
How fun! What a special memory that was! And the pajamas are the icing on the cake!
